Wander the gritty back streets of Richmond’s old factory district, and it doesn’t take long to realise this is a suburb teaming with creative talent.
Meet MOSO – a cluster of clever, creative online design professionals who prefer board shorts to silk ties, tennis tables to boardroom tables, and deliver striking, technologically cutting-edge, on-brief web based solutions.
MOSO knew they were looking for artwork in their reception area that was large, bright and eye-catching; something with plenty of punch. But apart from pinpointing these needs, the MOSO lads had stalled on the ultimate art piece.
“We saw some of the Visual Resource Urban work and we really connected with the bold, industrial look. So we asked them to come back to us with a refined Urban collection, from which we very quickly selected the image that was right for us,” said Scott.
MOSO then relied heavily on Visual Resource to advise on most elements of production and finish.
“We were adamant we wanted a high-gloss, really energised image. But fusing such a finish with a grand-scale sized artwork is actually very technical, so we were very dependent on them in terms of logistically realising our creative vision,” he said.
Underbelly from the Melbourne by Night collection, a 2m x 2m mural print, now hangs perfectly in MOSO’s entry area. It’s a shot of energy, a rush of hot and cool neon colours that – in all its frenetic fever – still gives off a sense of urban calm. It’s the perfect image for a fun and funky Richmond office.
“And it was a relief to just leave it all in the hands of Visual Resource. Why try to wrap our head around a whole new language and set of processes, when we can just have them translate and deliver everything on a 2x2m platter!” said Scott.
